LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST FOUNDER OF FLORIDA FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY

Johanna W. Guerrero, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in the States of Florida and Texas, and she is authorized to practice as a licensed psychologist in 42 states and the District of Columbia. Dr. Guerrero has over 15 years of experience in Forensic Psychology. She earned a master’s degree in psychology from Columbia University in New York and a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. She completed a post-doctoral internship with the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the Carswell Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Dr. Johanna W. Guerrero has worked in private practice, correctional institutions, universities, and hospitals. She has conducted well over 10,000 psychological examinations for Federal, State, Criminal, Civil, Immigration, and Juvenile courts. She has testified as an expert witness on more than 300 occasions. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychology-Law Society.

Dominic L. Galvez, Psy.D.

LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST

Dominic L. Galvez, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist in the States of Florida and Mississippi, and he is authorized to practice as a licensed psychologist in 42 states and the District of Columbia. Dr. Galvez has specialized training and experience in Forensic Psychology. He earned a master’s degree in criminal justice from Nova Southeastern University, and he earned master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from Albizu University in Florida. He completed a clinical psychology predoctoral internship at the Mississippi State Hospital, where he also completed a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in forensic psychology in the Forensic Evaluation Service.

Dr. Galvez has worked in community mental health centers, hospitals, and in private practice. Additionally, Dr. Galvez has conducted thousands of psychological evaluations for immigration, criminal, and civil courts that have encompassed a wide range of psycho-legal questions. He has also testified as an expert witness for criminal and immigration cases. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychology-Law Society.

Johana Soto, M.S.W.

Social worker

Mrs. Johana Soto has a Master of Social Work degree from Barry University in Florida. She completed her internship at the Dade County Jail, conducting assessments for newly arrested and convicted inmates, in conjunction with an internship at a domestic violence shelter for women and children.

Mrs. Soto has worked with different populations in domestic violence shelters, drug treatment programs, community mental health, and in hospice, where she has used different evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Holistic Psychotherapy, and Behavior Modification. Mrs. Soto has worked at Florida Forensic Psychology for over ten years, evaluating clients with immigration cases.

Melissa Cabán Tirado, Psy.D.

LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST

Melissa Cabán Tirado, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist in the states of Florida and Puerto Rico and she is authorized to practice as a psychologist in 42 states and the District of Columbia. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Dr. Cabán Tirado completed her doctoral internship at the Mayagüez Behavioral Center in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, and went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship with the Jail-Based Competency Treatment Program in Elk Grove, California, through the University of California, Davis.

With over nine years of experience in correctional settings, Dr. Cabán Tirado has conducted more than one thousand forensic psychological evaluations, including assessments for trial competency, risk assessments, and immigration-related matters. She is a member of the American Psychology-Law Society.

Ms. Portorreal completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computing and Management at Lehman College, CUNY, in New York, NY. She also earned a Master of Science degree in Accounting from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She has been a business accountant for more than 16 years.
